My lists on Twitter…

The purpose of them is not what most people probably think. I have seen tweets about how they can be used to build blogs and such. Considering I have 658,899 hits(as of this moment) to my blog, that obviously would not be of use to me. Furthermore, 7 yrs. worth of content brings a steady stream of visitors everyday. So what is the purpose of my lists on Twitter?

The answer is a lot more simple than you would think. The purpose is to help out my followers. By sorting my followers into various lists, my followers can then easily find others with similar interests. While they are still a work in progress, my goal is to have it up to date weekly, with every follower being on at least one list.

Lastly, I should mention the list category of “Awesome Followers”. These are the followers who seem to grasp the basic concept that a favor should be returned. If I re-tweet or favorite a post of yours, you should do the same for me. Those followers who get this idea will make it to this list, those who do not, won’t. Furthermore, those who forget this simple concept, will be removed from the list. I believe good followers should be rewarded and that is what this list is for. 🙂

I hope this brief explanation was helpful to those who took the time to read it. TC and have a good one!

WordPress.com condones cyberstalking!

I asked to have a subscriber I know in real life be removed because I did not want them nosing around in my life. I told them the subscriber gave me written permission to remove them(because they are too stupid to figure out how to do it themselves). I was told by them that they would not do it, thus allowing this person to keep getting emails of my posts. Well, here are the links to it, so you can read for yourself.

I have to wonder now, exactly why I am still here?

What do you think of all this?

Subscribing, where and what…

I noticed lately a recent influx of writers subscribing to this blog. While I suppose every subscription is good, at least for me, that may not be the case for the person who subscribed. You see, I have 3 different blogs and each one serves its own purpose. The reason for this was quite simple, too many things continued to get lost amongst the vast amount(quite litterly 7 years worth of blogging) of funny pictures and jokes at this blog, thus the other 2 blogs were created.

If you want to read about the occasional, and sometimes funny rants I make, the posts about daily life and issues, the music I create, or see the funny pictures and jokes I post, this blog is the place.

If you want to read creative writings, book chapters, prose, quotes, etc., announcements about my books, or any free novels I happen to be posting, then you should be subscribing to my Author Blog. I suggest subscribing to emails at that blog. I do not post there often and if you want to be notified about release dates or when new sections are posted to any free books, that is the only way you can make sure you do not miss anything. Nothing will ever be posted here about that stuff. Furthermore, I do not collect emails either. I have no time or patience to bother. The emails are automatically sent when a new post is posted.

Lastly, if you want to look at and share free Nature pics, you should be subscribing to Natural Wildlife Designs. That is where I post all pictures that involve nature and are original. They are all free to share. That blog I only post to, when I have enough pictures worthy of a gallery, so I rarely post there. But if you like those kinds of pictures you should subscribe to emails, for those few and rare posts.

I will be making this a sticky post, so that future and current readers, will find it is easy to subscribe to what THEY want. 🙂

Thx for reading and have a great afternoon EVERYONE!

My Thoughts on 2013 and beyond…

I am not going to into subjects such as religion and politics. There are plenty of places to read and discuss those matters. Besides, that has never been the purpose of this blog. The purpose of this blog is to find interesting and amusing things to share while occasionally sharing some of my original thoughts and creations along the way.

According to annual report I just posted, I believe I have failed at providing anything of value this year. Not a single post I made this year managed to make it into the top posts and once more the visitation rate of this blog has been lower. It almost seems like the more I add to this blog, the less people come to see.

Of course, there are certain other factors that have taken their toll. The like button and the wordpress reader have both distanced writers from their readers.

In the end, I suppose we all must either accept what is inevitable or move on. The fact is, someday WordPress.com will die and will only have its bad decisions to blame. That is why I shall be spending part of next year looking for a better blogging experience. It may be there is not one out there and all blogs are doomed to die but that does not mean I should just accept it lying down.

For me, 2013 was a year of transition. I left Facebook, SoundCloud, and G+ all behind me. I opened my home and my life up to those who accepted the invite and welcomed the chance for something more than just an internet connection. Then after having done so, I removed those from my life who had been hanging on but really had no interest in any kind of relationship.

In 2013 I learned that real friends actually reply to messages and posts occasionally. They are there for you when needed and truly appreciate the time and effort you put into providing original content.

2013 was the year for me in which I learned what really mattered. As the last of my children moved away and a new life opened up to me, I embraced it. I, on a personal level, felt that doing so was the only way for a courageous man to go. I let go of the past and put myself out there. Maybe I will come to regret it, but I would rather look death in the face than cower in fear.

So what does the new year hold in store for me? I could speak of what I have planned but then I would ruining the surprises, now wouldn’t I ? Besides, life has a way of screwing up the best laid plans. Thus, I can only speak of what I will not be doing in 2014.

I won’t be wasting any time on pretend friends. I won’t be wasting time on websites that offer me nothing in return for my efforts. And lastly, I won’t be making anymore dancing videos. The last one nearly killed me and in the end did not even seem to garner at least amusement. (Who would’ve thought an old man trying to dance was not amusing?)

In conclusion, I hope we all have a better year this coming new year, with many new and wonderful surprises!

2013 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 31,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 11 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
